How do I get a Rebuilt Model-A Engine running right?

I'm trying to find some restorers who have experience in getting a rebuilt Model A engine to run right.My engine has been completely gone through, and it's pretty tight, and hard to start and keep running.Timing the ignition has been ahassle, and perhaps someone out there has had the same experience, and could help me.I have converted the ignition to 12 volts, negative ground with an alternator, but that shouldn't cause any problems.
