Best Wayto Drive Uphill

I'm trying to figure out the best way to climb uphill with
my Model A Ford and keep up with modern car traffic in town.If I'm already in 3rd gear and am going down hill, there's enough momentum to keep me going 35-40 mph. But, my problem is starting at the bottom of a hill.Sometimes I can only get into 2nd gear and only shift into 3rd gear at the top of the hill. I get a lot of pissed city drivers on my tail and they only aggrevate the situation.(Almost got clipped this weekend by a red Mercedes who passing me on the right on a two lane road!!)

I once read that playing with the spark advance and / or
fuel mixture adjuster can also provide extra pep and power. What should I do, besides avoiding red Mercedes' or
BMW's in traffic?
