Brian, The pinion shaft should just stick out beyond the front end of the torque tube (about a half inch). If that is about where it is, are you installing all of tha parts that are attendent to bolting up the torque tube to the rear of the trans. housing? There is a conical part that goes into the end of the torque tube that allows the rear end to flex. Another thought, is the pinion bearing assembly flush with the end of the center housing at the rear of the torque tube mounting area? It should be.
