G'Day Glen,
The light switch / hooter rod is held into the steering column by a "C" clip on the end of the rod where it protrudes through the bottom of the steering box to operate the light switch. Flip the wire bail off the switch, then slide it off the collar. Compress the spring & remove the horse-shoe shaped "C" clip, then you can slide the complete assembly out of the top of the steering column. You may have to fold the top of the car down to get it out, but be very careful not to bend the rod when removing it. The hooter button can then be removed from the light switch by carefully bending back the tabs on the back of the switch.
