: I HAVE A 1930 TUDOR SEDAN I'M WORKING ON. I HAVE A QUESTION REGARDING SPECS ON THE BRAKE DRUMS. SPECIFICALLY HOW THIN CAN THE WALLS BE SO THEY CAN STILL BE TURNED.

............This depends on how out of rounds they are. You can find origional type steel drums that will measure .125 to .140 with a plain old 1 inch mic. If I were going to use steel drums I wouldn't turn them unless they were way out after I installed them. The soft lining will wear in to the drum if you arc them to begin with. Best bet when really doing a brake job is cast iron drums. I got stuff to install hydralic brakes and had it for years. don't need it cause I use cast Iron drums. I find mine at swap meets that came off late 31's but you can buy repops.
