: I recently had my '29 engine completley restored. After the tun in period (aprx. 1000 miles) I decided that it was time to put it to a mileage test. I struck out to I95 and drove round trip from Northern Balto County to Wilmington, Delaware. The following events occurred. I95 has hills and valleys not high and not low but grades. I found that after getting the car to about 48 miles perhour it felt like it was pushing a Wall of Water. I believe that the effect was from the hills though not sure. I let of the gas but slightly and the car smoothed out I allowed the car to take the road at its own pace. I used about 3/4 gallon of water and no oil on this trip. My question is: Are these normal experiences. Can you determine from this note if I need something else done (tune) Is this a normal occurrence with this motor without a Hi Compression Head?

: All comments welcomed!

Tom: I would check your timing and point gap, this doesn't sound normal, at least none of my cars have performed this way and I lived in the mountians west of Denver. The only time I had a similar experience was due to the the gap on the points not correct. 3/4 of a gallon of water seems excessive, did you have it over filled??? they will throw off what they doen't need. Is this a new or rerodded radiator? ....Rich
