: HI all,
: This leaking red gasket problem has been around ever since I started Model Aing (OK I won't say how many years that's been, but I've owned my A longer than the original owner, and I'm only the second owner). So why haven't they been made thicker by now, or why doesn't someone make a thicker replacement one???

Hi David,
I am also curious and with your help, maybe I can get tot he bottom of the question. First, I looked at a number of new caps and the red gasket seems to be OK on them. Would you be so kind as to measure the groove in your cap for me. ID, OD and depth. Also how thick do you estimate the gasket should be ?
A careful look at the gaskets presently available tells me that they are probably an "off the shelve" size. It might be very expensive to have these made to spec but I'd like to know more about the problem. It seems as though there MAY be two different size grooves???
Thanks Ray C.
