Engine ticking

We had the 29 woody out today. While driving to a show the car overheated, I pulled off the road and added water to the rad.
The engine cooled down and didn't overhead again, but when we got to the show I noticed a ticking noise coming from the engine. I sounds like a valve tapping or a exhaust leak.
When we drove back home I didn't notice any lost of power.
Any ideas?
