Hi Hugh I agree with Craig, you don’t need a thermostat. On modern cars with heaters it improves the time of warming up the engine so that your feets not has to be cold, but on Model A there are no heater (and the only effective heater I know for model A are a manifold heater) and the construction at the engineallows it to run at lower temperatures than to day. To my experience a Model A with a working radiator only runs at 55 - 70 Ccompaed with a modern car which runs at 85 - 90 C, less water and thermostat. But even with an older radiator its seldom reach more than 90 C, Believe me I had tried it, it only ran hot in hill climbing 25 km opways in 1’st - and the only reason was that my thermometer one day earlier vent out of order. If I had to recommend you something, by you a thermometer with feeler in upper house or waterstud. Keep them original if ever possible Regards |
