While it's true you can't get "off the shelf componants for this carb, there are some who claim it is the best carb made for model As. It would be easier to maintain a Zenith or Tillitson if you're not really into 'scrounging' or fabricating stuff. While I prefer the Zenith, I won't climb on a soap box and claim it's the only way to go. May just depend on the quality of parts you find!! (or how carefully you restore the carb.) I will warn you that the new gas out here in Calif. will leak past original needles and gross-jets. I've had to get the viton tipped needles to stop the problem. Float level is critical in A carb. It will run with too low & slightly too high, but you will have other problems, like dying under braking, or backfiring under compression. Takes a bit of experience, ask around!
