: I have a 29 woody wagon, my fatherinlaw Ray Matthews restored
: this car back in the early 60's. The car has been setting since 1991 after he pasted away. We got it back on the road and it runs great.
: My question is, the finish on wood on the tail gate and around the rear doors is fading/coming off. This winter I would like to sand and reseal. What finish is used now. Do you still use SPAR varnish ?

George, my expertise is not on Model As, however I sure have
a lot of experience restoring old houses. The very best
varnish I know of for outdoors is Interlux marine varnish.
Interlux makes several types, I use "Schooner" for high gloss and outdoors.Best UV protection, I learned this from my old home restoration magazine articles. You will have to
call some marine shops to fine it. Gloss is better for out
doors, plan on several coats.hope this helps, james shotwell
