the tillotson carbs run very well -- i used one
full time when my town sedan was last on the
road.i've got a proper zenith carb now,
but i rebuilt the tillotson for use in
my breakdown kit.

a word of caution --- if you do use the
tillotsin and you have an air maze, don't
crank down too hard on the air maze screw
or you'll dent the pot metal as it is
very soft.this happened to me, so
be careful.

as far as pot metal is concerned, i don't
recall exactly what the product was, but
i saw a demonstration at the carlisle
fall meet one year of a guy who showed
how to repair pot metal.he was using
just a propane torch and some sort
of consumable rod (which he was selling)
and it looked fine.

Also I see in parts catalogs repair kits for Tillotson Carbs. Was this an aftermarket carb and what roughly are they worth? Was it as good as a Zenith? I understand that it was made of potmetal. Not my favorite metal!"Pot metal Pooh.... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as always.
