: A friend is purchasing a Model A.He needs to transport it 15-20 miles on side streets to home.He has a tow bar and wants to use it.I remember reading an article once that suggested filling the transmission all the way to the top with oil, when using a tow bar.Is this necessary for such a short trip? Also does the steering need to be disconnected?I realize that putting the car on a flat bed truck would be the best way to go, but he insists on saving money and using the tow bar.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Neil

Be careful about using a chain to tow any car with, in many states it is illegal to use a chain to tow with. It could end up costing you a lot of grief. A tow bar is the way to go.
