: What is the differance between an A and B engine. Will a engine parts work on it.
:thanks Bob

Bob,
This is not a complete list but just what comes to mind right now:
- B crank has larger journals for both mains and rods
- B rods are larger for the larger crank journals
- B block has a fuel pump hole on the right side
- oil pan is different (includes part of flywheel housing)
- head is different, combustion chamber design, water pump mounting (you can use a B head (marked with a "C") on an A engine.
- head gasket is different
- timing gear cover is different (timing pin hole is 18 degrees off)
- water pump is different (3 holer)
- manifolds are different but can interchange
- distributors are different (B has centrifugal advance)
- carburetors are different (larger venturi and throttle)
- flywheel housing is different (two piece)
other than these, they are just alike ;)
The good news is that you can adapt the Model B engine to an A with a little work and is quite desired by some folks.
Bratton's (800-255-1929) has some Model B parts listed in the back of his catalog.
John
