G'Day Ted, If your car was running OK before you changed the gear, then I'd say you might have your valve timing a tooth out. To check it pull a plug, & whilst looking down the plug hole, turn the engine until the valves start rocking, then make sure the piston is at TDC. Regardz DJ. OutOfAfrica A's : I have just installed a new cam gear.It is the standard gear.Backlash is .007".I tried a .003" oversize and it was to tight. : I have timed the car and am having trouble with it missing at high revolutions - about 35 mph in 3rd gear.I am going to put in a new condensor to see if that eliminates the problem. : While doing the timing, I found that the distance between the rotor tip and the distributor body is .080" or more!Is this a critical problem? The rotor is relatively new.Should I replace the distributor body?Any suggestions? : Ted Lobley |
