I've had good results taking my gas tank to a radiator shop and having them just boil it out.After it's been cleaned up, all loose rust particles and gunk will be gone.If you prime and paint it and fill it with gas, there's no need for the "sloshing" compound because the tanks already clean!The gasoline inside will keep it from rusting.
