: I have seen available both hinge-mounted and spare tire-mounted side view mirrors (for the drivers side) and only a hinge-mounted mirror for the passanger side. I think I'd like one on each side. Is there an advantage to one type over the other?

Hi there.
Hinge-mounted mirrors should be available for both sides of the car - as are tire mounted mirrors.I'd guess you'd get less vibrations if you put them on the hinges. The negative is that it's sometimes REAL HARD to remove those old hinge pins.

An alternative are mirrors that clamp to the wind wings. Those are much easier to install.

In many states, at least a left-side rear view mirror is mandatory. If you're going to show your car in MAFCA/MARC blue ribbon judging, you'll possibly lose points if you have a reproduction mirror, but for other classes, it's usually overlooked as a safety item (as are seatbelts.)

Hope this helps
