:new, best quality battery and ground cables (the heavier ones needed for 6V) won't cost much, and are well worth the time and trouble to fit.

also---sand the area where the ground cable is bolted to the chassis frame to approx 3/4" diam. of clean bright metal before bolting down the new ground cable---paint frame and cable after assembly with glyptal to resist corrosion.

running an additional cable from chassis to engine (for certain grounding) is worthwhile.
