G'Day Jack, The terms "long" & "short" have absoluteley nothing to do with the physical size of the engines, but are used to describe the state of rebuild on a motor. In other words a typical "short block" will consist of block, crank, rods & pistons, camshaft & cam gear covers, whereas a long block would be a complete motor less water pump, manifolds & carb, generator & starter. The component list will vary slightly from rebuilder to rebuilder. Regardz DJ. OutOfAfrica A's : Hi...I am brand new to "A"'s reading through I noticed reference to long block "a" engines. Is there a short block? If so than what is the difference? |
