:With a new project roadster on the drawingboard for the next few years, can I purchase lacquer and store it?I'm more convinced that it may not be available when I get to the painting stage in a couple ?? years. How long have we kept lacquer unopened on a shelf folks ? Your feedback greatly appreciated as always.

First of all, if you haven't tried the new urethane-type paints, you're missing some good products! To tell you my experiences, if you don't open lacquer and tape the seals on the can, protect it from extreme heat and cold, I've used ten-year old lacquer and had normal results. I used to refuse anything but lacquer for vintage car work and I've restored numerous cars and parts; now you can't make me use anything but PPG urethane products for body finish.

I think the mfg. says much less (probably to limit product liability) and I'm not certified in PPG school. To be comfortable, go to the dealer and see what they say!!
