G'Day Dennis,
You can easily change your 6V system from posotive to negative ground by re-polarising the generator. this is done by connecting the battery for a negative ground, then touching the posotive wire a few times onto the wire which comes out of the generator & connects to the cutout. This way you wouldn't have to insulate your modern radio. You'd also have to change the wires over on the back of your ammeter to get it to read correctly.
