Hi Mike,

Very good point! You're correct. The fitting allows a direct path to the U-Joint.The holes in the grapefruit allow lubrication to the felts in the U-Joint housing halves. This entire assembly works as a "Ball & Cup" U-Joint for the torque tube.It would seem that this area is designed to move in an omni directional fashion to stop any torque tube movement stresses from transferring back to the engine. This assembly as any other mechanical system requires lubrication. The holes let you lube two birds with one stone! After reviewing a couple of diagrams that's what I think the holes are for.Let me know what you think.Sounds feasable don't you think?
