WOW!!! thanks guys for all the suggestions.I'll begin eliminating some of the easiest and less costly things first before moving to the rad itself.It is definitely NOT spilling, as the motometer goes through the roof when it happens.....but the really weird thing (at least compared to other cars i've had that would run hot for some time, and then boil over when one stopped or got stuck in traffic) is that this thing will run cool for a while, and then BOOM, the temp goes through the roof and the steam and water start gushing from the cap.After it happened like that a couple of times i thought, well, i'll just slow down to a crawl, and see what happens, rather than stop and let it cool down, add water, etc)and what do you know? if i drive less than say 20mph, the temp drops back to normal and she's run ok until i try to regain some speed.Are these symptoms useful for a more precise definition, doctors?
