G'Day Tom,
If the head's loose & you're taking it off anyway, why not lift it off with the distributor in position, then you can drive it out from below with a block of wood or socket wrench over the drive shaft, plus it'll be a lot easier to get the goose grease in from below.

: Greetings!!

: After my road trip Sunday, I noticed the telltale signs of a headgasket problem, (running a bit hot, a bit rough and a bit of water/fuel/exhaust mix leaking near #4).

: Did the teardown tonight, decided to do all of the upper gaskets to have a look at some of the insides, which I have not seen since I got the "A" last year, and to do a finish on the manifolds etc.

: Things are going smooth, and before I break something:I have the head free per the technique posted a few days ago, however, the distributer will not budge.I removed the set screw above the intake, is the screw down near the oil pan below the sidepan required to be removed also?

: The distributer will not turn or lift at all, and I am not foolish enough to force it.

: I am having a blast, this is the first "A" gasket job I've done since '72.

: How about a little help from me friends? Thanks,

: Tom (out of Lansing)
