: I can't find the numbers on a 5 window coupe.I looked on the engine, fire wall, and top of frame on drivers side.Any other places they hide the numbers? I want to know what year of car this is.It has a 31 radiator shell but it was sittingin the trunk.Choking on ModelA Dust.

back in the late '50s--mid 60's i got to watch any number of fellows doing one of the popular amusements of the time---putting together a model a from miscellaneous bits and pieces which they often got for free, simply for hauling them out of someone's back yard.

what's this mean?---if you wish to rebuild your ford into an exactly original car, you could remove the body, and look at the number on the chassis frame--that will date the chassis fairly closely---if, by sheer chance, the engine number matches, that will date it nearly exactly. then you might ask one of the real ford experts, like marco t., for example, about the details which will tell you if the body was made in the same time period as the chassis, such as the firewall shape, and location of the fuel valve, and many other small details of which i haven't the foggiest idea, myself.

if all that matches, then you most likely have an original car, even tho it may have any number of missing or incorrect bits and pieces.
