If your filter conversion is really working (I don't know how you'd tell), I'd go 2000-3000 miles between changes.Check the oil frequently; it should remain clear on the dipstick (although it may get darker.)The 500 mile figure was for cars used in the 1930s and no oil filters - our oils are much better now, but if you're using detergent oil, any debris will circulate with it.The oil filter should trap this stuff.The non-detergent oil used when the Model A engines were new didn't circulate the debris; it fell to the bottom of the pan and turned into sludge! |
