Silverplating is the very best for both immediate light reflection and light reflection a year or two from now.Sure, it's more expensive to do and it requires more care (polishing) but silver plating is really the way to go.
If you're going to use halogens, it hardly matters because they're so much brighter.Hope you have a good electrical system, cuz they really suck the juice. I'd only go that route if you were going to do a LOT of nighttime driving; if that's the case, it may be worth the effort.
