Kenneth, unless someone else knows of another tricky method I am pretty sure you will have to pull the oil pan to do this job. The opposite end of the bolt inside the crankcase has a square head and will take a 6 point socket to fit it. (I think it is 5/8"). If you do pull the pan you may want to check the tolerances of the main bearings at that time. I waited a little too long before I checked mine and they were loose enough to cause a small crack in the rear main bearing. I should have known by the amount of oil I left every time I parked. When you put them back together tighten them evenly, the final torque should be 80 foot pounds. -DAN |
