Rust Removal Question

OK, I need help!I've got a question about removing surface rust and preparing it for primer and paint.

Here's my situation:I've got the body off the frame of my '31 Deluxe Tudor, with it sitting on stands. The 'visible' part of the body was painted about 30 years ago and reveals nice shiny metal when stripped off.The problem is the underside. It's real nice for a 67 year old car, but it is still 67 years old...It's a combination of dirt, scale, surface rust, and some of the original paint.I've been stripping it down with a braided wire wheel on my grinder, but I'm wondering if there is a better way (I don't want to sandblast it).

If I am going about this the right way and it just takes time, that's OK, I'd just like to have someone confirm it.Can I assume that I need to wipe it down with a metal prep just like the rest of the body (once I have it stripped)?

I need the guidance of the experienced here.Show me the light!

TIA,
Bobby Crumpley
