: I am considering replacing my 1931 Tudor (Delexe?) body with a new roadster body. It needs a new interior including seats, along with minor bodywork, paint stripping and new paint. What is the value of the body and 2 good rear fenders? I believe it to be near $2000. Is this a good estimate and is any one interested? Thank you.

I recently purchased a 1931 SW Fordor body for $500 in similar condition, but without any fenders (West Coast).Although this was a "good deal", the body still needs minor body work, derusting, stripping. There's a lot of money that still needs to go into it.So that you can compare.$2000 for a Tudor sounds a little high (at least for out here.)

You're not sure if the body is a Standard or Deluxe Tudor?Since I own a 31 Deluxe Tudor, I'm familiar with the differences. If your body is stripped of the interior, it's going to be hard to tell, but I'll give you a couple of items to look for

Of the 80+ Deluxe Tudor people I've talked to, all report that their cars have the indented firewall. This makes sense, since the indented firewall was announced in April of 1931 and the Deluxe Tudor were introduced in June 1931.

Since the Deluxe Tudors had rear seat arm rests on both sides of the seat, there should be small mounting brackets riveted to the rear side window inner panels, near the window risers. The front of the arm rests slip onto these brackets.

If your roof wood is still intact, there should be a place for the center dome light. If the wood is gone, there may be 2 extra holes in the metal cross brace where the wood block holding up the dome light would have been screwed in place.

All Deluxe Tudors had cowl lights, but a Standard Tudor could have had dealer-installed cowl lights, so presence of cowl lights or the holes isn't proof. The LACK of holes means you have a Standard Tudor.

Although there were lots of other differences, this should give you enough clues to determine what you have.
