Need Advice-Rear Brake Blunder!

Posted by Fred Murphy on May 22, 1998 at 15:19:41

I was at the point of installing brake pedal when I noticed that something was very wrong, the rod from pedal to stoplight was not touching etc.Upon further inspection and working backwards the problem hit me like a sledge hammer. The rear brake actuator arm has a reverse action, completely wrong.I push the arm towards the rear of axle to engage brakes! Question; What did I do wrong, mixed up right and left parts or what? I noticed the actuator arms are facing outward toward the wheel, that is the bent area that ties to the rod.Did I put these in wrong.Sure could use some help before I tear into them again. The brakes were completely taken apart to restore, and other than being hooked up 180 degrees wrong they work fine.Sure could use some helpful knowledge to correct this as I tear into them again.
Thanks in advance for the much needed help.
