Door Handles

Just what is the secret of removing the exterior door handles from my 31 A ? I remove the two screws and checked for a clip on the shaft somewhere but found none. I have some movement between the square shaft and the cam, so don't believe it is corrosion . Any ideas ? Thanks Jim
