Here's my 2 cents worth to a couple of your questions Q: The light switch body (two pieces) may pose an interesting dilemma, about which I'm hoping the pros among you will have some thoughts.Once I started disassemblying same, I realized that the wiring to the tail lamps would have to be unattached. A: Good light switches are hard to find - the reproductions don't fit and don't even look right.Taking apart a good working switch for plating is required if you're going to cad plate the housing, but getting it back together and having it work good again is an iffy proposition.Unless you're going after a 500 point restoration, paint it with some aluminum paint. It will hold up better and looks almost the same. However, don't put on too much; the two pieces don't have much clearance and too much paint will make it tough to reconnect. Q.(Someone has told me that there was only one tail lamp [left rear] when the cars came off the assembly line.Is this true, or could a right rear lamp be ordered as a customer option?) |
