No matter what oil you use, it will leak out. Modern grease works well. Substitute a grease fitting for the oil fill plug in the steering gear box and pump in grease until some oozes out at the sector shaft. I have been doing this for the last 27000 miles Ihave driven my Coupe and the steering gear condition is good. As a matter of fact, friends have commented how easy my Coupe is to steer.
There is a caution. Some synthetic greases cannot be in contact with fossil oil products. So read the label of the grease first. If necessary, flush the steeering box out. Synthetic greases are most superior as lubricant as they can take extreme conditions of load and heat. Moreover, synthetic greases last indefinitely.
I have yet to find any Ford literature that mentions 600W oil for the Model A. I think this technically ancient material was designed to lubricate the cylinders of steam engines. Today, there is no telling what one gets when buying what is called 600W. Modern lubricants are far superior.
