One better than teflon tape trick!

While reading an interesting article on an A club that put together an engine in one day,I noticed a suggestion to put teflon tape around the threads of the bolts that go to the timing gear cover. I kept that in my mind to recall when I restored my own engine. When the day came to purchase the tape I walked by the electrical isle at the store and noticed a roll of tape called Fusion Tape. It looked a lot like teflon except the properties are more desirable. Stayes flexable from -85F to 500F (-65C to 260C),that in itself convinced me that this would be ideal for valve cover and timing covers as well as the oil pan. The material is made of semicured self fusing silicone rubber, non conductive,so I won't use it on the starter bolts, that's another problem.Watertight, curing begins istantantaneously and a seal is made in minutes, heat can be applied to speed curing. It cost a little more than teflon but I believe it has a longer life and better properties. I cut a small strip that wraps around the threading as stretched a little overlap. Anyone tried this material yet? It seams to work well.
