Ted,
Is the damage in the fabric part or in the metal? If in the fabric it is best to replace the whole fabric (the outside part, not the headliner) because more than likely another rip will occur due to the age. It is not hard to replace but will take care and some time especially if you haven't changed one before. There are kits available from Snyder's and Bratton's and they should include instructions.

: My tudor has holes in the roof panels above the rear side window on the passenger side.The holes aren't real big there is a 4 inch long rip about an 1/8 of an inch wide above the rear of the window.What is the best method for patching this hole - bondo, lead or fiber glass and how is it done if your not going the bondo routine?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
