: : All references to installing a water temp guage that I have seen relate to the manual type system that requires a fixed length of tubing between the sensor and the guage.Has anyone installed an electrical type guage system? It would seem that this would be easier to install. Is there a problem with 6 volts?

: Jim,
: There's nothing wrong with 6V electrical guages, there just hard to find.I have a number of Stewart-Warner sending units, but no guages.I called S/W once and had a nice conversation with their Technical Support group and came up with all kinds of information on the sending units, unfortunately they no longer produce the guage...if they did I would have bought a bunch of them.So I guess I'll have to keep looking at flea markets.I have a mechanical unti in my Model A, it works very well, but I'd rather have the electrical version.

The 12 vdc gauges should just read 1/2 scale on 6 vdc.I think you could just double whatever reading comes up.Check it by putting the sender in some boiling water on top of the stove. When the wife is not home.Gauge should read 106 when boiling.Double that for 6 volts. How about one from a V.W.?
