Seat Belts for the Rumble Seat?

Bob's question got me thinking about a project I'm planning to tackle very soon. Since my best friends daughters (ages 8&11) love to ride in my coupe's rumble seat, I've toyed with the idea of seat belts.

It seems that on order to do this correctly, I should install a device that would prevent the upper portion (lid) from falling forward. This would be in addition to the seat belts.

My thinking here is that in a collision or hard braking situation, any person with Seats Belts would continue to travel forward until they Hit the rear portion of the car bringing the rumble lid with them and complicating or causing an injury. A small child could become severily injuried because they would hit their head against the upper lip or edge ofthe trunk/rumble area.

Does anyone have an idea of how to make such an apparatus?

I am also assumming that plates should be welded to some place
strong, in order to handle the wear, tear and shock of daily use.

Thanks
Rick
