Bob, I only wish more people would care enough to investigate as you did, thats terrific! Did you make any additional notes on the floor area (top and/or bottom)? Was there the usual, paint behind the patent plate on the firewall?

Our best references until now have been the early Cabriolet bodies. If we had more references like your's we would be able to determine if there was a changeover across the board, or some variation between assembly plants. Since unmolested Cabriolets are becoming increasingly rare, we may never have all the answers.

Your description of the color break on the door pillars is consistent with other models (except for the pillars being upper body color). The secondary color is typically painted around the corner to the first inside corner on the pillars. The secondary color on the doors is typically applied on the outside only, just covering the edges.
