Pedal Shaft Removal - Follow Up

Thanks to Joe and Marco. For anyone else thinking of replacing the pedal shaft, this is how it went:
1) I ground of the head of the rivet.
2) Then I took off the bell housing access cover and had a helper drive the pin through. I was able to hold the pin with two fingers and remove it through the access opening.
3) I put a drift pin in the hole that the pin that holds the shaft collar fits into, and twisted it.
4) Miracle! The shaft turned, and came out with relative ease.
5) The only problem which I encountered was that the replacement shaft seems to have had the holes drilled in it slightly off-center, so the exit hole did not exactly line up with the hole in the far side. I just tapered the end of the rivet a small amount, drove it in and doubt if it will ever work out.

Thanks, guys!
