: Ed,
:How were you running your radio before the convertion? A 6v system with a 6 to 12v dc converter for the radio? What are you running, 12v gen or a 12v alt? Is there a polarty flipper?
: Need all the info of your electrical system to give you an answer.
: Generally you need to do some filtering, the auto parts places sell a device (capacitor) to block hum from the alt and is mounted close to the alt. Also there is a filter device that is wired in the power line to the radio and should be close to the radio. Also the A will require RF (Radio Frequency) filtering, use resistor type spark plugs and capacitor on the battery supply terminal of the coil (not to terminal that hooks to the points via the switch). And most important, got to have good grounds!!! Run a ground wire from the radio to the alt. if the same polarity.
: These are generals but really need to know what your system has to be specific.
: GW
: : With 12v convewrsion I now have terrible noise on my cb radio. What has anyone done to resolve this problem. It was not there before the 12v conversion! thanks Ed

I found some great radio noise suppression filters at West MarineI bought one that went on the alternator...and one that went on the radio...filtered all the noise out...
