Paul,
Congrats for your Pops A. Go to www.mafca.com and look for vendors, Snyders, Brattons, Macs. All offer catalogs, get them. Then order all the books he can get his hands on, if the cash outlay is too large start with, the 5 volumes of "How to restore your model A" and or Les Andrews's "Model A Handbook". Both will answer most how to questions. One thing to bring to point, the repo parts do not fit exactly, some finageling with them is almost always needed to get them to work. I found this to be the case when I changed my points, then I found the distributor shaft bushing wore and etc. Also helps to get hooked up with MAFCA or MARC then a local club, lotsa help there. And of coarse this board LOTSAWISDOM here from very knowledgable people. To Answer your question, it is not hard to do the points but watch how the wires go, easy to short them to the housing. If the shaft bushings are worn it will be hard to maintain proper dwell.

Good Luck From a couple of years A tinkerer,
GW
