: : : "... the entirety of the horsepower of the engine which drives the wheels is transmitted to the chassis(through the torque tube) at the after engine mount."

: : I'm a little skeptical of your reasoning, and confused by your explanation. Please clarify. The float kit is of course a 3 point rear mount that does utilize a solid crossmember for support. The rubber biscuits are hard, not gelatinous and are compressed until deformed when installed properly.Have not seen too many frames fall apart or engines leaving the chassis from using these. They are in a lot of cars.I'm all for original mounts which can be easily found (from people changin to floats). The real question is did Henry use fixed mounts for economic or structural reasons.Somebody ask George DeAngelis.

: i mean no personal offence to anyone who makes or sells any accesory product. if i have given any, i apologise.

Don't apologize, just shoot your mouth off like I do. Especially when at least one Fool thinks you have a good point. "To each and every action there is an opposite and equal reaction." When the clutch is engaged and the torque is applied to the drive shaft/differential/wheels/ground something must resist this torque or the engine would rotate about the axis of the center of the torque. This resistance is provided by the flywheel housing/motor mounts. Ever wonder why the typical tired old Model A frame needs some straightening in the vacinity of the motor mounts. Could be a coincidence... could be....

If you take the time to draw a diagram of the forces and calculate the stress imposed by the torque applied the point loadings will surprise you. Then a review of the sectional area of the frame where this point loading occurs and it becomes obvious, at least to me, that the float-a-motors were a good idea from a sales standpoint but did little to enhance anything structurally.

Because something sells well does not make it a good idea. Anybody want any Pet Rocks, my kids thought they were the hot thing... then they moved out and left them behind. Dam things are eatin' me out of house and home....

God speed under 50.

The Model A Fool.
