Malcolm,
The gas tank used a friction tape type anti-squeek material at the three sides where it bolted to the cowl. The cowl assembly then used the welting from the bottom of one side, over the top to the bottom of the other. It was cut off blunt, even with the bottom of the cowl.

The front fender welting began at the top (cut blunt) even with the edge of the metal. It extended to the running board where it was either cut blunt leaving the paper core somewhat visible, or neatly tucked, dissapearing at the corner where the running board, fender, and apron met.

The rear welting began with a blunt end at the lowere rear of the body, followed forward over the top of the fender the lower edge of the body. It then tucked in under the body to where the fender flange met the apron (sometimes a little excess was tucked in here), and followed the fender down to the running board. Again, it was either cut blunt or disappeared neatly into the corner.

Other notes: 3/4" wide friction tape type seam tape or anti-sqeak was also used on the bottom of the running board inner moulding where it was inserted into the trough of the apron. I've never found any between the running board ends and fenders, but would not dismiss the possibility.

Hope this is all clear!
Regards,
Marco
