As Joe so eloquently explained, there are cracks and then there are cracks. The "hairline" surface cracks referred to have never given me a problem. Of more concern is the accumulated scum on the face of the clutch surface. I use a palm sander with 220 grit paper and hit the surface in a uniform circular motion until all this scum is gone.

So far no chatter, no cataclysmic disintegrations and no problemo!

Nice to hear the opinions of someone who would seem to have an engineering background. Remember Joe, pie are not square, pie are round... cornbread are square!

: Don't worry about the cracks. The clutch surface on a A is very large and it will hold and operate just fine with a new clutch disc.Save your money.
