I'll respond on behalf of my son Jeffrey who is 13 and in the 7th grade.

Jeff has taken a very fond interest in my Model "A" and wants one of his own to restore. He would like to have it completed by the time he gets a drivers license.Jeff attends all of the local restoration clinics and Model "A" meetings with me.He reads the "Restorer" and the Twin Cities Ah-oo-gah Newsletter even before I get home from work and realize that it had come in the mail. The others in the Twin Cities Model "A" club really like to see Jeff attend meetings. They want to make sure he gets a good seat so that he can see everything.

Jeff has put in several hours working on my 29 coupe. There are often times where I am the "Helper" and he is doing the task.Just this last week, he got upset when I decided to change the oil and putter with the car when he wasn't around. He has gotten other boys involved from the neighborhood. At one point last fall, there were four heads looking at my engine and Jeff was pointing things out to them.Jeff has become very educated about the differences between the parts and the years of a Model "A".When we go to a car show or a model "A" event, he often points out to me where flaws are or a part from a different year than the car.He is starting to notice the difference between an original or NOS and a repo part.Maybe we have a future judge here.

I didn't realize about the youth newsletter until the latest issue of the restorer.I was going to call today to get him on the mailing list for this newsletter.I like the idea in the current issue of the restorer of a checklist where the youth can earn points for a patch. It is an incentive for Jeff and others to get involved.
