My understanding of that time was that the Tax Man didn't have his hands so deep into the pockets of the average working man.
I know I could afford to pay allot more for gas (and Model A parts!)if I didn't have to contribute so much to all the various Government Charities.My Dad's generation credits F.D.R. for that one.=-)
