:I was give a complete set of A engine tools and the guy that gave them to me who is now 89 is going to help me redo my engine and some of my friends but the place he bought his babbitt from is no longer in business so we are looking for a place to buy automotive babbitt. Any help on locating a source or helpful hints on the pouring (that he may have forgotten)would be appreciated. I don't have direct access to the internet so someone else will be retreiving answers. Thanks for any help. Jim

Jim, I have dabbled in that work myself.I'am not a professional but I may be able to help.I'll try to help you at the beginning. The best babbitt, marketed as U.S. Government genuine, is available through a large mail order supply house known as McMaster Carr.I can get an address and catalog number if you need it. I have bought my babbit through an industrial supply house (it is cheaper) dealing with industrial power transmission equipment known as Motion Industries. They have locations all over the U.S.Try someone you know in industry working as a maintenance mechnanic or maintenance engineer and ask where he buys his bearings.
Next, let me know what equipment you have and I can possibly guide you with your equipment.I am familiar with Kwik Way, AAMCO, Hub City, KR Wilson and others. You may E-mail me direct at JCannon126@aol.com and ask questions. If you have any extra stuff (duplicates) I am always seeking to buy it.
Let me know if I can help--- John Cannon
