Carla,

The firewall change applies to all models and the transition appears to have been completed during the month of May. I do suspect that if they still had any supply of the earlier gas tanks, they may have continued on the commercial vehicles a little longer.

I believe the announcement date of the new Fordors (160-A,B,C) was March 2, 1931. The earliest of the 160-B,C had no pockets in the doors, a pocket in the right side cowl trim, a large pouch on the rear of the front seat, and a visor on the left side only. The second visor was added at the end of April and the cowl pocket and seat pouch were replaced by four door pockets approximately the same time as the firewall change.

It's common to see a late Jan. or Feb. engine number on the early cars but Dec. '30 would surprise me some. Were you fortunate enough to get an old registration or pink slip? They usually have the chassis number on them still (here in CA).

There's no way to tell where it was built unless the floor cross sill just behind the front floorboard was stamped.

Regards,
Marco
