Yep - Positive ground it is -

If yours isn't then there are two things to check whenever you correct the battery hookup -

The Ignition coil should have the terminal marked "-" connected to the battery, and the "+" to the ignition switch.

The generator will have to be re-polarized which is done by connecting a wire between the two terminals on the cutout with the engine stopped.In stubborn cases you can re-polarize with the engine running, but try it first with everything stopped.

I recently finished two good sets of shocks starting with 17 cores (with VERY few good parts left over).
I doubt if I had more than 60 hours invested all told, but it was both interesting and challenging.Repros are definitly the easier way if you value your time. You do need access to a lathe if you plan to rebuild your own.
